Looking for comments on Avix Sunshine Factor.

My Avian Vet wants my to give Chi Chi and Zoe (Noble and Hahn's Macaw respectively)a product called Sunshine Factor to condition skin and feathers. She said it would help them during molt too. It can be mixed with food or given as is, if they like the taste. Being a concerned FIDs Mom I purchased a 1 oz bottle for $25, a pretty lofty price if you ask me. I don't mind the priceyness if it is indeed is a great product.

Does anyone else use this product? Zoe can be a pickey eater. Neither one likes a wide variety of veggies but eat Zupreem Garden Goodness and the Fruit Flavor along with treats such as Kashi Bars and Cheerios.

The Illies will eat pellets too but I have to vary the kind to keep them interested.

Just want a bit of support for the Sunshine Factor if there is any.

I add Red Palm oil to the cookies and bread I make for the fids. It's one of those things that a little goes a long way. I found Welcome to Jungle Products Inc. | Products: Red Palm Oil at Whole Foods. Good stuff, much better price.

My vet gave me that too, a couple weeks ago. I actually came here and did a search for it, that's how I found this post...Anyways my gcc Kiwi doesn't care for it and won't eat it when I put it on her treats. The vet said birds like the taste and she should eat it. :P I'll keep offering it but I don't know if she'll take it...

Kiwi's uric acid is a bit high (it actually has come down over the years) but the vet thinks the red palm oil will help bring it down to normal, and I'm to take Kiwi back in to be retested in a few months. In the meantime I'm to give her the Sunshine Factor a few times a week. But if Kiwi won't take it I don't see what good it'll do, lol.

I've noticed that if it is in any kind of quantity that the birds can really taste it, mine won't eat it either.

Thank you for the replies.

And thanks for the link for Red palm oil, That really is much less expensive. Zoe really likes the taste almost as much as she like Birdy Ben-a-bac. When I mix the palm oil with the ben-a-bac she really gets excited.

Chichi will take some coaxing. I will have to cook him some brown rice and put the Palm oil on it. I may even have to check out the human benefits for red palm oil, weight loss caught my eye immediately
