Chamomile Tea?

Hello,
I saw that you can use chamomile flowers to make a tea that you can add to the birds water to help relax them. Can I use tea bags from the grocery store or would this be bad for the birds?

Thanks,
Danielle

Thats what I use. Just make sure whatever you get its all herbal. Some teas have some weird additives, but its easy to find 'pure' chamomile tea. I use it on my female caique to help with her anxiety. Brew the tea strong, let the bag sit for awhile, then do like 1/4 tea to 3/4 tap water for your bird. Depending on the size of the bird and strength of the tea, it can make them sleepy (it is a natural sedative) so you kinda want to play around with that. My birds have big water dishes so I add more then I would with a smaller dish.

From what I've read, you want to use tea in ADDITION to (not in place of) normal water, so as not to risk dehydration.

I'd suggest visiting a health food store or co-op as they can help you find a brand of chamomille tea that doesn't have an additives.

Here's a link that might be useful: >BEAKS BIRDHOUSE<
