Exclamation harrisons pellets vs totally organics pellets pleasee helpp !

i want my kiwi to be on the healthiest pellets possible and i want everybodys opinion on what they think is best. i dont care about the price she is my babyy. this is the ingredients list for each and the gaurenteed analysis

totally organics pellets

Certified Organic Ingredients: Rice, barley, corn, sunflower seed hulled, alfalfa leaf, sesame seeds unhulled, amaranth whole, quinoa whole, buckwheat hulled, millet hulled, dandelion leaf powder, carrot powder, spinach leaf powder, purple dulse, rose hips powder, rose hips crushed, orange peel powder, lemon peel powder, rosemary whole leaf, cayenne ground, crushed red chili peppers, wheat grass powder, barley grass powder.

Guaranteed Analysis: Protein 15% Max, Fat 6% Min., Crude Fiber 6% Max
Pellet Processing: Designed by avian nutritionists to be the best diet on the market today. TOP pellets are cold-pressed (not extruded or baked) to keep natural enzymes, vitamins, and other nutrients intact

Why we don't have soy, peanuts or wheat in our pellets.
____________ _________ _________ _________ _
SOY BEANS
There is more and more disturbing data found about soy beans and products. Soy beans in their natural state contain large quantities of natural toxins and there is data that soy is cumulatively toxic when fed to animals. For example, The PARROT SOCIETY NEW ZEALAND claims that soy products in bird food have caused such problems as immune system breakdown, failure of organs and multiplication of the birds' own benign bacteria.
PEANUTS
It seems that more and more birds develop allergic reactions to peanuts, so we view them as a great treat for birds that are not allergic to them, but not part of their daily diet.
WHEAT
Wheat is a common allergen and contains about 80 different components that can cause a negative reaction. The number of people that are allergic to wheat and wheat products is raising daily in alarming amounts. If that is the case for humans, and we are not sure how it acts in birds, better safe than sorry.

Hhmmm, thanks for posting the ingredients list for Harrison's. I feed it to the birds I have that had nutritional deficiencies when they got here.

I think it sounds like the best food you can feed your birds is sprouts. A lot of the ingredients in Haririson's are things you can sprout like chia seed, lentils, peas, barley. Apparently, the sprouted seed is the healthiest stage and great for your birds.

I have not done this yet but just bought the seeds and the jars and am going to try it.

As for the other food, I have heard that soy can be bad for parrots.

Oh yeah! More people on the sprouting wagon. I've used them for my girl (BE2) for almost nine years and she's fit as a flea. The basic sprout mix used by Leslie Moran (of moranscritterconnection.com) is buckwheat, wheat, short grain rice, adzuki beans, mung beans, and lentils, I add celery seeds, alfalfa, radish, broccoli, and other stuff occasionally. This is fed with veges, fruit and evening meal has wheatgerm oil added (two drops).

I've heard conflicting opinions on which is best. Orion seems to prefer Harrison's coarse to TOPs, but he will eat both. I'm thinking of alternating. Harrison's seems drier/harder, whereas TOPs seems to have more moisture. Since I'm currently living in a humid area, I'd prefer drier, as it will stay fresh better.

Harrisons pellets vs tops

I read somewhere that it is a good idea to mix at least two pellets together. That way they are getting the benefit of what each may have to offer. I had sent for samples from several bird food companies and several were extremely generous. I have been mixing lafabers with roudybush. Now they look different and actually roudybush looks healthier. My CAG and U2 will definitely eat both. I got a huge bag of Dr. Robs or Toms (can't remember off hand) so I will try mixing them next. They are organic and crumble easily.
Harrisons and TOPs look completely different, this may cause the bird to pick a favorite shape instead of trying each.

Me too, I mix Tropican pellets with Passwell pellets as we have supply problems here, and I want Dusty to be happy/familiar with a couple in case one is temporarily unavailable. I use pellets in the mornng feed during summer when I'm at work and can't take sprouts out if they get nasty with the heat. She doen't really eat much (she has other stuff too) but really fills up at evening mealtime.
