How many veggies?

I feed Rico a legume mix or veggie/legume mix that I purchase from the Bird Brain in addition to two or three vegetable types (which I give to him in chunks). I was wondering how many veggie types he should receive per day. For example, today he received tomato (I know, technically a fruit), yellow pepper and an italian pepper. I typically offer three different types of veggies and when they're gone purchase three different types. To be honest, I throw most of them out as he doesn't like veggies. I just want to make sure this approach is okay. He also receives Harrison's Pepper Lifetime Coarse pellets, a couple Nutri-Berries and nuts. He also regularly receives a small amount of what I am eating (which unfortunately is usually something carb-loaded). Thanks.

That sounds like a good philosophy at least until he starts eating the veggies. Looks like he gets a good variety. Have you tried sprouting? That also offers some carbs in addition to veggies that they might enjoy. Give it a try, they might like it.

I tried just 2 or so different kinds at a time, and it took WEEKS for them to actually eat them! Then I got the Veggie Delight (Beak Appetite) and mix the fresh veggies in with that. The first couple weeks, I added a small amount of applesauce to it to get them to try it. Now I only give it once in awhile (applesauce) seperately, but the diced fruit bits are on top of it all. I also give (all the time) a mix of dried veggies/fruit in the bowl with pellets and seed.
