Raw sweet potatoes aren't harmful. People say to cook them because they're hard as rocks when raw and birds won't touch them. However.. raw sweet potatoes do have trypsin inhibitors, which, in people hinder digestion enzymes. I have not heard of that affecting birds, though.

I feed Alice Cooper, my budgie raw potato and have done so for nearlt eight years and she OK, never been sick in her entire life, so go for it. Dusty my BE2 won't eat it raw but loves it cooked, mashed with things in it, tomato sauce (home made), peas....that sort of thing.

Both our birds get raw organic sweet potato and or yam every day. We cut it thin enough but leave it in large pieces so they use it as foot food. Unless it's yam fries, they prefer raw.
"They asked me why the budgie's name was Alice, I said listen baby you really wouldn't understand." AC lyrics for those of you that think I lost it... LOL
