Made my own bird bread! LOL
Sooo, I attempted to make birdie bread for the first time today. Here's what I used:
1 round container of corn meal (Kroger brand) 4 eggs, no yolks 1 tsp baking powder 1 cup cooked white rice 1 cup alfalfa sprouts 1 cup raisins 1 1/2 cups seed/pellet mix 2 cups tropicana no pulp orange juice 3 cups water I know most other recipes for BB don't call for water, but I had to use some to make the mixture stirrable. I baked @ 350 degrees for about 35 minutes, or until I could smell that sweet cornbready smell coming out of the oven. It came out pretty funny! It's got a hard crust on top and it's kind of crumbly...it's not like real bread at all. The funniest part is, Hess picked up a piece of it then immediately rejected it. All that for nothing! Hahaha! I don't think she likes corn very much, since she always rejects the corn nuts in her feed (she likes popped corn though). Luckily I'm meeting with other paronts tomorrow so I can bring the dish and share it with them. Hopefully one of their fids will like it
