Guess this answered the question...yes, Pinecone treats are safe.
*The store-brought ones may not be very nutritious, but this can be rectified by making one's own. p.s. A google search would bring up Pine cones that can be purchased and recipes!

These are pine nuts which I pick for my birds on a regular basis. I just give them a sprinkle of water to wash of airborne dirt. They are nutritious, supply essential oils and are reported to be an aphrodiasiac to parrots. I will have to re-find the actual article to support this. Why don't you do this : Be observant, watch the birds out in nature. See where they are landing when they are out foraging for food. They are the best teachers giving us all a free valuable lesson in their like, dislikes and habits.
