Is this ok as an occasional treat?

http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/herrsnacksgifts_2070_460345

They have seeds in them and have less salt than normal pretzels (I checked them against a regular bag, they had 300 mg in 30 grams, regular pretzels had 550 mg in 28 grams). He will take a half of one and nibble on it and then drop it, so he barely even eats any of it, but he seems to like them. I also take off any salt that I can before I give it to him.

It would be better if you gave him organic pretzels. Those most likely have alot of chemicals and additives. They shouldn't eat anything that isn't natural. I am sure someone on here that knows all the details about why these are bad will post.

Do you have a organic food store? They usually have a section that has healthy dried fruits, nuts and seeds. They might have some healthy alternative to pretzels.

Ok, we have a health food store near here but I haven't ever been there. Maybe I will take a drive over this week.

Oh, having a little nibble of something won't hurt. And if you take off that salt it's good. Just don't let them have a boat load and keep it very infrequent.

Honey (or any other sweetener) and salt are not good for birds. Why give them less than good food when you can treat them with healthy food such as pieces of fruit, pieces of nut, a couple of sunflower seeds?

I have some honey treats for Neko, Ollie and Emi and they love it. Every now and then they get some things that arent particularly "healthy" for them, but they love it. Thats why its a treat - its given rarely!!

Pure natural honey can be dangerous due to its bacteria content. Processed honey stuff is safe.

Abbey loves biscuits with honey.

Health food stores are great. You can do so many different treats with there products. I made Carob cookies there other day. Both Abbey and Sonnie (Lhasa Apso) love them
