Dried red peppers

Cali seems to love the dried red peppers that come in the seed mix. There are very few of them though. Is there a place that you can just buy the peppers? She is slowly eating less of the formula and eating more big bird food, and we want to help her enjoy it. Thank you!

Many grocery stores sell them packaged, especially if you live where there is a Mexican population and go to a store where they shop. My Kali (Grey) likes the long, thin red ones (chile de arbol) the best though I offer other kinds as well. He just opens them and eats the seeds. I often put them in foraging toys.

If you can't find them locally, here's a good source...

Thanks! I know a local grocer that sells a variety of dried peppers in the mexican produce section, I just didn't know if those were safe for our bird.

Just make sure you don't kiss your birdie on their beak after they've been eating them...I've found it to be a very painful lesson. ;p Especially if you're a wimp like me when it comes to spicy food.

LOL... and DEFINITELY don't let them preen your eyelashes! (not that this is a great idea anyway, but you know...)

be careful not to over do it with red peppers. As I understand it they are pretty high in oxalic acid.

My fids love them too!!
