Recomend me some foods!

Hi, I have just rescued a green wing macaw and wanted some recomendations of a nice seed mixture. I like what these people have to offer but does anyone know if they are legit? Certified Organic Sprouts, Sprout Mix for Parrots, Avian Naturals Preservative free parrot foods.

Thanks!

You need a lot more than seeds for a macaw...they're high energy and need good fats too.

Nuts, pellets (i feed mine harrison's adult lifetime), and fresh (or fresh frozen) veggies and fruits.

I'd reccommend taking the time to look around the forum a bit. There's lots of good recipes and suggestions for feeding....

You can get free samples from all the pellet companies and that will save alot of wasted money.I also give my btm beak appetite rotated with a cooked mash and a nut and dried fruit mix they sell in bulk at the bird store. She also gets small amounts of whatever I eat thats healthy.

I already feed him mash and fruits and veggies ect. I was just looking for a decent seed formula to mix with some pellets.

Have you looked into Volkman seed? Parrots on the porch? Avian Organics? TOPs seed? Island Treat?
These are the ones I recommend. I've used others but most are too dusty for me.

My Macaws eat Macaws Premium Pellets by a company called Lafeber's. They seem to be very healthy and love their food. Best of luck with your new little ones!

Mine get a shmorgasboard daily. I give them Zupreem pellets topped with fresh sugar snap peas or green beans, grapes or banana or apple, peanuts or walnuts and some nutriberries. Then on occasion I will give them scrambled eggs or a hardboiled egg.

Sometimes I make them birdie bread or just give them some 12 grain whole wheat bread.

I do not feed any seed except I will toast them some pumkin seeds once I carve mine.
