Birdie Bread ?

So in an atempt to provide Chico a better diet, I've been changing up alot of things lately. Some of you may remember that I mentioned he gets birdie bread in the mornings-the most recent batch I made was harrisons. He loves it! In the past we have had good luck with it (birdie bread) as well.

I'd like to make my own birdie bread though-but I'm looking for something fairly simple. Many of the recipes I find suggest Jiffy Corn muffin mix-which I'm sure he'd love and I don't mind-except I'm concerned about him having that every morning. I've had those muffins and they are very sweet, isn't there alot of sugar there? Wouldn't that have some bad effects for him to have every morning?

I have found some good suggestions, adding yams, pumpkin, chopped nuts, you know-veggies, fruit and maybe some bird seed here and there. Is there another base batter I should be working with that would be better for him, or do you think this is fine? He doesn't get a human sized piece.

Durring the day he has his harrison's pellets though I'm looking into other brands at the moment too-and in the evenings I warm up some frozen veggies plus fresh veggies and make it into a mash. I am going to introduce beans and such eventually as well I just haven't gotten to that at this point. He is eating his veggie mash, though not as much as I'd like.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the links guys, and anyone else please add if you have any advice. I have a question about beans too, is a bag of 15 bean mix ok? I thought I remembered something about it not being preferred because some of the beans weren't good for the birds even after the soak? Is that right?

For my birdie bread I use a base that is either some kind of whole wheat flour or pellets that have been ground up into a powder. Then I add lots of minced veggies as well as cooked beaned, some seed and anything else I feel like adding.
