Freezing Veggies?

Well, i finally got Cookie to eat sweet potatos. I want her to eat other veggies but i feel this is a great start. i can chop them up and put them in a bowl in her cage now and she'll eat the whole bowl! :)

Well.. right now i have a tiny bit of it chopped the size she eats in a container full of water in the fridge.. But i want to chop a bunch up and freeze them..

This is a really stupid question - but how should i freeze it? I want to be able to take enough out each day for a day or two, let it thaw, and feed it to her.

Oh, and how long will it stay good frozen?

Thanks!!

thats what i was thinking i was going to have to do..

Do you sit them in water or something? because i noticed with sweet potatos if they just sit out of anything they kinda get dry

no I mix the in with the other vegs she gets in a closed container. I usually do a mixture of squashes, sweet potato, carrots, peppers, broccoli, kale, radishes. I chop them up into pieces she can hold an chew on. I do fruits everyday. She loves her grapes and apples. She is picky with fruits.

I do a mix of frozen and fresh-things like sweet potato and broccoli I do fresh and sometimes I'll get different mixes. Right now the frozen mix has peas, corn, green beans and carrots. I usually warm everything in the microwave and I have this mini chopper thing-like a mini food processor you can get a wal mart for cheap, and use that to make a veggie mash in the evenings. Later I want to add more grains and beans and such

I chop all my veggies up and I put them in a plastic bag and freeze them. I most of the time heat them up in the microwave and then serve them a little warm. The birds love em and its easy. Plus Im not wasting tons of food because some days I DO have picky eaters!!

Abbey was scared of them at first but I put them out for her everyday and she started eating them. I wasted alot of money in the beginning but it paid off in the end. They sell herb salad in plastic boxes at Walmart. She really likes those. I bought a chopper and slicer from Pampered Chef. It makes vegs so much easier.

You all make me feel like a slacker! I give mine raw, fresh sugar snap peas or green beans and occasionally a green or red pepper or just a raw mini carrot for fresh veggies. However, they do eat them up!

I made them 'birdie bread' and they ate it so/so. But I give them an all natural 12 grain piece of bread I get at the grocery...and they think it is to die for! So I keep a loaf in the fridge form them.

They do get some type of fresh fruit daily. Usually red grapes, banana or apple. And I do get dried papaya that they love. Seasonal fruits too.

I must be a slacker because I don't cook for them. But I have no pluckers, no biters and no screamers so...knock wood!
