General Health Questions
A cat, a dog, and humans have a recommended health/vaccination regiment but a bird doesn't... So, I was wondering if, from experience anyone could put me on the right track and inform me of what all vaccinations/health procedures are available to birds? How often should they should they be performed, the names, signs and symptoms to what they will prevent? (i.e. trimmed wings--should be done how often and by who? Trimmed nails should be done how often and by whom? What are some preventative vaccinations? What do they prevent against and how often should they be given? Sexing can be done how and when? What’s normal body temperature for a bird and how do you check? What does a good avian vet check for and what's to be expected?), etc.
My bird was vaccinated against Polyomavirus and recieved a certificate of vacination prior to me bringing him home. Are there any other vaccinations that Iris will needed and hopw frequently should they be given?

Mites & Intestinal Parasites
Well, maybe this time someone will respond. I have another question in regards to health.
What mite infests birds, where do they get them from, what are the signs, and how are they prevented? What are some intestinal parasites that can infect birds, what are they called, how are they prevented, and treated. I have tons of books. I know that I read this all somewhere before. I probably could find the answers easily but I just figured that since these are questions that have crossed my mind; perhaps the answers to these questions would be helpful to someone else as well. Meaning, in addition to myself because I don’t recall the answers to those questions off of the top of my head. Thanks!

There are few vaccines available for birds and their use is controversial. There's some information at Vaccine Protocol - scroll down the page.
There's information on mites at All About Avian Mites Info on parasites at Veterinary Practice News - VetPracticeNews.com - The leader in news from and about the veterinary industry, focusing on companion animal practices. I hope this helps!
