sick budgie

today i noticed some of the feathers around my budgie's head and beak were matted down as if they were wet, although they werent, and when i looked closer, i saw that he was spitting up like this foam stuff and then swallowing it again. i assume this is what caused the matted feathers but i still dont know why hes doing it. i checked him again later and saw some blood by his beak. im taking the other bird out for the night, not that i think theyve been fighting or anyhting, but i jus thought it would be a good idea. ive made posts on several other forums. whats wrong and what should i do?

I don't know what it could be. But he needs to see a vet. ASAP/ Can your vet get you in for an emergency weekend visit??

Right now I am sweating for Monday to get one of mine in.

Hope you are able to get some answers on here. Hang in there.

Is he eating, pooping? active or hunched down? feathers normal or all fluffed up? If you have a vet available on the weekend, you may want to take him in. If not, try to keep him warm and get him to eat. Hope he is ok~

Any improvements with the little one?

When I first saw your post I assumed he was just regurgitating food (quite normal!) but if there is blood involved and the stuff truly is foamy it could indicate a severe crop infection. If there is no improvement then I wouldn't hesitate to get him to a vet as it does sound rather worrying. Good luck!

All the best,

Heather
