grain mix

I am going shopping Friday for Cricket and Benji (parrotlet and lovebird) at Wholefoods. I am curious what other grains and rice are wonderful besides Millet?

I always get wheat there for wheatgrass. All birds love it and its loaded with vitamins!Plant it in a deep potso it will last a long time and if you can set it outside it lasts way longer. You can sprout it too. They have all kinds of beans ,grains etc to sprout. I hit one of the sprout sites and print out their ingrediants before I go.

I forgot to tell that my local whole foods gives me the cut leaves of greens for free. They just throw them out. Ask at the door to the back and tell them its for birds.Their usually organic too.

Here is a link to the seeds/grains Excello Commodities offers: Pigeon Blends, Wild Bird Mixes, Nuts, Safflower, Sunflower, Dried Fruits and Vegetables, Soak mixes and more This is where I buy my mixes. You won't want every seed that is listed, but it'll give you a good idea of what's out there. Then just google the seed you're thinking of including to see what it's composed of.
