kakariki rubs face
Hi. my male kakriki is persistanly rubbing both sides of his face on his perches. He has done it to the extent that his face is bare. There is no signs of lice. He has different perches in his cage and he rubs it on all of them.
He is eating and bathing and preening himself. He seems fine in all other ways. Thanks in advance |

I have a kakariki aswell but I have never seen him rub his face on anything to that extent. I do know he LOVES his bath though.
Have you brought him to a vet yet? Or is there anything new in his diet that might have caused it? Are you adding anything to his bath water that might cause irritation? If you haven't been to a vet I definitely would advise going to one. And in his case I would make sure it was an avian vet as a normal vet may not know an alot about a kakariki or how to treat the problem. |
