red runny eyes

My 3 month old tiel had red runny eyes and loose droppings. No avian vet nearby but a phone call to a specialist indicated possible bird flu. Daily Sulphur drops picked her up but four weeks later we had a very mangy looking bird and her eyes were still not right. I kept up the sulphur treatment as it was making an improvement but added lots of vitamin A vegies to her diet after reading this may be the problem. Two weeks later - eyes nearly restored to normal, droppings normal, weight gained back and feathers looking beautiful. I am continuing this treatment until I can see that her eyes are 100% again. I was originally told to prepare for her demise. Hopefully I have the problem solved.

chuckles is now very well with no sign of her eye problem - I have been continuing with the high vitamin A vegies and to date no re-occurrence of red eyes - hooray
