Unhappy Birdie ate candle!

My rainbow lorikeet ate some candle today, and I found green flecks in her poop- this is a good sign right? It's passed through her unharmed? She ate some candle before I could stop her. It wasn't too much and she looks fine now...
Thanks,
Mel.

Well, I guess it means that the wax is passing through her system and maybe not getting blocked up, but I would still call your vet and ask if you need to bring her in. I don't know what kind of chemicals are in candles or if she might have ingested some with her wax snack. Better safe than sorry, right? Let us know what happens!

I hope it wasnt a scented candle. Any how I would just watch her for any sign of distress such as not eating or pooping or sitting all fluffed. One thing we must always think about is not so much the wax but any other additives ie: color (what is it? where is is from? does it contain lead?) , scents ect.

I know of 2 lovebirds that died from eating candlewax. Please take it to a vet, when it has eaten some, it doesn't mean that it is fine just because the poop shows it.

She only had a nibble and that's about all that came out- so it's completely passed through... she's acting normally today and eating like a horse... she's hooking into her nectar mix right now in fact! She's perky, chatty, sleek- her eyes are bright and she's preening herself and peeping and whistling. Her poop looks normal- right color, consistancy etc. Her vent is clear and stomach isn't bloated. I called my local vets and the receptionist said she should be fine, and I called my avian vets and the receptionist reffered me to a vet who said that if it's passed through then it means her body hasn't absorbed it and its simply going right through. haha avian vets are SO much better! :D Dancelady that's a sad story :( What kind of candles were they? My candle wasn't scented- just coloured.
I'll keep a close eye on her but I'm pretty confident she'll be ok. She's getting lots of honey and liquidy nectar today!

Thanks everyone! -Melanie and naughty Ash :)

ps. The candle lives on the other side of the house now!
