Non-Stick This and That

Okay, so obviously non-stick cookware such as teflon is a no-no. However, what about calphalon? I have heard mixed opinions as to whether it is bird safe?
What is good for a frying pan? Stainless steel frying pans don't exactly cut it.

Also, I am in the market for a new iron/clothes steamer...but I have noticed that several irons have a non-stick plate. I am assuming that this is not birdsafe. Anyone have any ideas for birdsafe irons?

Thank you to everyone in advance...

none of the non stick type pans are safe. I use farberware, copper bottoms and pam works well.

what ever iron you are considering you can write to the company to ask them what teflon type components it contains. usually they are very good with answering questions.

Pan- I bought a steam cleaner from Shark to blast my cages. It came with a fabric steamer attachment. Seems to work pretty well.
As far as non-stick... I kept a few teflon pans here, for my use only, for a year after I got my first bird. I was so scared every time I used it and was fanatical about keeping the bird room doors closed, the kitchen door to the deck open, and draw vents open.
Too much anxiety for me!!! I recently switched over to stainless steel and hated it- AT FIRST. Now I love it! I have learned through trial and error how to heat the pan before adding oil or food and now RARELY have a problem with anything sticking.
It's been SO worth it to me not to have to be so afraid for my birds and guilty for continuing to use something that could kill them just because I didn't know any other way. Stainless really does work- it just takes a little practice.
