Teflon-Free Products

If anyone can recommend a manufacturer of teflon-free products in the following, i would appreciate it -

space heater, cooking pans, ironing board covers, baking pans, muffin pans... anything like that!

Please let me know. I dont want to kill my baby!!!

I did find some stovetop pans - they are the GreenPans. I think I will get one to start moving away from polytetrafluoroethylene products. I am most interested in finding muffin and bread loaf pans that dont contain PTFE, because that is what I plan on baking my parrotlets birdy-bread in. The ironing board isnt a priority! I will look for any excuse not to have to iron but I do have a lot of blouses. perhaps i should just cave in and send them out! lol.

I dont know if my coffee maker contains PTFE, i've heard that some do and searching the internet proved fruitless. Also toasters! If anyone can give me any recommendations I would appreciate it.

Thanks guys!

Ooh, can I add to your list? I need a non-teflon rice cooker. Also, if anyone has bought a new oven lately that's relatively bird-safe, let me know.

For cooking, I have a cast iron skillet and griddle. Then I bought a couple of Wear-ever stainless steel pots that I LOVE - they have strainers built right into the lids and I use them all the time. I'm thinking of getting a couple more of those.

Yeah a rice cooker would be nice too. Feel free to add to my list! Im just trying to start with what i use the most. I dont even have a rice cooker right now. Hadnt even thought of that containing teflon! why does everything in the kitchen have to contain it???

Thank goodness for the "Green" movement sweeping across America!

I'll look into the Wear-Ever pots. I need a skillet - so cast iron is good?

Mostly want the muffin and cookie sheets. and bread-loaf pans. I'll use glass for casseroles and such.

sigh.

Its tough. Cast iron is safe (if you can lift it!), and for baking pans, I use glass or silicone (both are safe). I don't think they make any rice cookers or bread machines that dont use teflon (could be mistaken, but I am pretty sure that they both need to be non-stick). We just recently bought a toaster oven and turns out that only the cheap ones don't use teflon, ours was $19! Its not great, but better than teflon. I use all stainless steel for pots and pans, and I just dont care if it sticks, because it eventually comes off.

I dont iron or use space heaters, so I cant help you there...but I did spend a long time trying to find a hair dryer without teflon. I finally decided on a Hot Tools Tourmaline that uses ceramic heat. When you start looking for teflon products it can make you insane, it is in most hepa filters for example!

I was thinking about buying some Pampered Chef stone bake-ware sometime after the move. I have a large pizza stone from that line and I really like it. They have lots of different sizes and shapes, they even have muffin pans.

Thanks Darwin! I hadnt even thought of hair dryers!!!

Its a bit ironic that the cheap toasters and the ones that WONT kill my pet. kinda a relief too because replacing my cookware will add up quickly.

And as for the Pampered Chef - on one website i found that they dont use Teflon. Yet another website quoted one of the ladies that runs Pampered Chef that they do use PFTE on their products.

I'll have to do more research. I really like the GreenPan, at least from all the reviews i've read. I'll buy one and see what I think. I'll also look into a new hairdryer.

I'm only talking about the stoneware, it's made from clay, no non-stick coating there :)

Still searching for "green" bakeware. I found this website. Does anyone know if it is Parrot/Bird Friendly?

Pizza and Bakery Equipment | pizza pans, cake pans, non stick bakeware and cookware | Manufacturer Direct

no luck with the mini muffin pan for making individual serving birdy breads for my parrotlet though.
