well the "comfort level" of parrots is about 65-80*F but they can withstand a much broader range of temps...45-90*F...however it really depends on birds themselves. for instance if the birds are obese/skinny that can change..if a bird is obese and the temps got up to 85 quickly it might suffer heat stress..same for skinny birds and the other way around. Air movement comes into play as well though I think anything over 85*ish with stagnant air would be stressful for those birds. If you could get them some moving air it would benefit them...and then they could be fine up to 85-90 ideally 85..
well i hope this helps!!!! ![]() ~Nate

It depends on the temperature range in the bird's native environment and also on how well acclimated the individual bird is. Cockatiels are from the Australian outback and can tolerate the extreme heat there, but they're used to it and the heat builds up gradually from the winter temperatures. It would be bad to suddenly inflict that much heat on a bird that was used to something much cooler.

Do you know what she usually does when it gets hot? If they are used to being in their cages in those temps, they will probably be just fine. Mine are in the aviary on hot days and seem to love it (though they won't say no to a nice misting), though they always have shade and are accustomed to the temperatures.

I live in Pa too, and yeah it is a little tropical compared to our usual weather for this time of year.
I don't really think it would be a problem unless you see them panting or signs that the heat is bothering them. I'd estimate that it wouldn't of been more than 80 and at max 85 in a house even during the day here without ac or open windows. Make sure they have plenty of fresh water and I'd say they should be ok.

Ok. Thanks Guys. They didn't seem to be panting or anything. I think that they are always in the same room so it should be okay.
I was just worried.

Here is an idea if you are ever worried about the heat. We use to do it at the fair for the 4h bunnies. Keep a few gallon jugs of water in the freezer. On real hot days you can set one against the outside of the cage. When the birds get hot they will go closer to the "cooler air" coming off the jug. They can adjust as they need to get cool. Water mists are good too.
Im not understanding why the windows cannot open ??Can you turn on the air?? How can one live in a house with no windows and no air?? Im confused.

In her living room she has stained glass windows. So they don't open that I am aware of. In her dining room she has a big picture window, but no screen so I don't want to open that in case something might get in. I think she has an air conditioner that she puts in that window in the summer, but I have no idea where it is located at and don't think I could put it in by myself anyway. I will mist them a couple of times a day and see if they like that. I know my Sunny does.
