Beak Growth on my Hans
Please advise. My hans had a growth starting on the lower mandable where it grows from the smooth skin on face.I read it could be from a fatty liver We immediatly stopped all food except pellet. The growth actually went away( It was actually protruding layers). Now i am noticing that side has a dip any ideas. The behavior change has been a "teething" type action with his beak while I hold him.

Pictures would help.
Birds beaks are similar to our nails... they continually grow. Beaks are also made up of layers, that given time, may flake off. Too much flaking and a beak that overgrows its normal length could be signs of liver disease, as well as overgrown nails.

to help the bird
i encountered many case of that kind in lovebirds and conure.. wel, just file it... but dont clip it.. nail file will do. but if you have this gadget for orthopedics it is faster and easier. just know the normal beak and shape it that way.. it becomes normal.. but through time it might grow back again but some birds dont.. so just give him toys to nibble after the filing.
