I've tried several different methods... as some bird poop is like concrete to say the least!! So I use all of my cleaning tools (got the kit - several different types of scrubbers and brushes) along with PoopOff/PoopAway...
I SWEAR by that stuff. If they were to ever stop making it... I would be in a LOT of trouble. I can sit there and scrub something with water for FOREVER without even touching it... but I spray Poop Off... and everything practically runs off... Amazing product... ~Kevin |

We have 9 macaws and my favorite tool is our powerwasher...gasoline engine. While our flock is outside in their aviaries enjoying themselves...we pull all the cages out of the bird room to the yard. My powerwasher has a chemical take-up hose that I put down into a large bottle of Dawn dishwashing liquid. I soak each cage twice..let them sit for about 10 to 15 minutes then power off all the yuck and muck with plain water. Between the Dawn and very high pressure, those cages come clean really quick. In the winter when they can't be outside...I have a commercial grade steam cleaner that works great. But it's not near as much fun as that gas rig!!
For everyday quick clean ups I use either vinegar/water mixture or Poop-off. |

When I clean the bottoms of the cages, I use baby wipes (unscented) and then wipe it again with a damp cloth baby diaper.
For a more major cleaning, I use dish detergent and hot water, sometimes vinegar solution. I agree, GSE is great. I use it for birds' drinking water a few times a week.

Poop Off is $20 for a small bottle here! I use real lemon juice & water for quick sprays during the day. Works like a hot damn! Then in the tub (seed skirts and trays have to be removed) for a hot as it gets spray down.

Hey hollyhawk...
I don't know if it helps - as it seems like you have your routine down pat. But I too have found that Poop Off is pretty pricey when it comes to the retail stores. However, I did find that Drs Foster & Smith sell a gallon of it for $39.99. That should last awhile, and is a LOT better deal then the smaller bottles that I've seen.... you can probably find a better deal on EBay or something like that as well... who knows? Hope this helps someone! ~Kevin |
