Dirty Boing!
My Sennie, Max, has a fairly new boing that he hangs out on most of the time when he's out of his cage. It really needs cleaning and I have purchased a nice wide hanging ladder with beads as a substitute for it while it's being cleaned. What's the best way to clean a boing, and to dry it afterwards? I have heard everything from dishwashering it, to using the washing machine, handwashing, hosing, etc. and I want to do the best job I can without wrecking it. It was custom made (to match his orange belly) and if I wreck it he'll never forgive me, I'm sure! Any advice would be appreciated!

I steam blast mine in just a few seconds. Look good as new and doesnt soak it AND it sanitizes it. Gosh I love my steamer. I have heard of people putting them inside one of those mesh bags and washing them in the washer?

For boings or rope perches or anything like that I throw them in the washing machine and let them air dry. They always come out looking new and I have never destroyed anything using the washing machine.

I don't know how big your boing is, but I drop mine around the agitator in the middle of the washer. They come out perfect everytime. I also use the shortest cycle so they're not just soaking in the water for long. Then I hang it to dry, prefereably next to a sunny window, so they'll dry faster.

Thanks everybody! I put the boing and two cloth rope perches in the dishwasher and they came out great! A little colour came off the boing but that's o.k. It
has been quite nice outside these past few days so I hung them outside to dry.Max was very happy to have his nice clean boing back! |
