Budgie Help please

Oscar my beautiful budgie keeps chewing on the papers i have on my desk i always try to get them away from him but sometimes i forget and he chews it all up

Its not the chewing i am worried about, sometimes he swallows the paper i always try to get him to drop the little bits he has pulled off and brush them away.

He seems alright there is nothing out of the ordinary he is doing since he started chewing and eating paper, i am just worried about his health

If you can help me please post or message

PS: Another question: He waits for me really quietly at the bars of his cage to go to bed and once to lights are out and the cover is down he decides its play time, he will climb on the roof and play with his bells, this keeps me at night but in about 20 minutes he will settle and go to sleep.

Anybody know why he does this? or is it just his personality

sounds like you have an active, playful bird! Regarding the papers on your desk, it looks like the wings are clipped in the photo, so you could use a little tabletop stand with a couple of toys clipped to it, if your bird will stay there. Safe shredding toys might give him the activity he wants without tearing into your papers and possibly swallowing paper. If you have him on your desk, the only thing to do is to put away the papers while you have some playtime with him. Will he sit on your shoulder and stay there?

Re the bedtime playing, sounds like it's just something he enjoys. Why not try putting him in his cage and cover him for bedtime a little bit earlier than you want to go to bed? Maybe he'll get the 20 minutes of activity done with, and be ready to sleep when you are!

Ok thanks for that i will try the bed time thing

And he does sit on my should but after awhile he will get bored and starts crawling down my arm and jumps on the table and looks for something to do.

And for the chewy of papers i got an idea as my desk has like a book shelf above it i might find a good stick in the back yard that is good from him to chew on and turn it into a swing and hang it down from the book shelf and mabye tie some toys to the ropes that will hold it :)
