Quarantine Period

Okay. So I got 2 budgies from Petsmarts back at the end of June, they seem very healthy and also came with a "health guarantee" which I know doesn't amount to a hill of beans from a pet store, but they said that they quarantine their birds before they even put them in the cages and sell them.

Anyhoo, what's the quarantine period that I need to keep them and Sebastian away from each other before I can sigh relief and say okay, everything is cool?

I think its anywhere from a month to two months.. I'm sure others will post with better knowledge, but i think thats the average quarantine period..

I didn't know you had budgies, too! Would love to see pics ! heehee

I haven't been able to find my camera wire, that's why they aren't in my siggy pic, but as soon as I get moved and unpacked you'll see them. They are adorable. And the funny thing is that at first they weren't crazy about each other, now they're inseparable. They even sit on a little 2-inch ladder rung together...LOL

Awhh, thats adorable that they like each other so much now, they sound sweet. I love budgies, i had some when i was younger but had to find them a better home (little sister was too rough, we were moving and they weren't happy... ) they went to GREAT home with my best friend whos old keets had recently passed away.. they lived there for awhile until they flew away :( (her brother is autistic and he let them out the ONE second they turned their eyes away from him... ) i can't blame them but i wish i had never had to give them away in the first place.. :(

You must be super excited for Sebastian to come home - after quarantine are you planning on putting him in the same room as your budgies? ..

30 days at least for a good quarantine. Some say 60 but at the most I think I would do 45, of course that would depend on where the bird came from and what environment. Congrats on your new babies!!

I am going to have the bird room and an outdoor aviary, not sure if the budgies will go in the room because eventually it will be the Big Bird room...LOL But for now it will be just sebastian's, but they will be in the house together when I let sebby out of his room, plus outside. So I'm just worried, but I spend enough $$ on the vet when it's necessary than to have to run 2 seemingly healthy budgies to the vet. I'm going to take Seb to the vet within 72 hours of picking him up, of course.
