Talking Avian Vet

So I finally located what seems to be a great Avian Vet only about 30 minutes from where I moving to in FL. YAY. I was told Dr. Holder has a lot of clients with Ekkies, which is even better. I already have an appointment scheduled for the day after I get there. And they are extremely reasonably priced. $48 for a well visit. If I do the gram stain test $39 and so on.

Wow! That is a good deal. My vet is pretty much double that :( I guess it just depends on the area.

Well, I had called the Bird Hospital in Jacksonville, FL, because I thought that would be thge closest Avian vet to me, they wanted $185 for the "first visit" including the tests. But the young lady faxed me a list of Avian vets and I found this one, which is also 20 minutes closer to my house. LOL

Wow, Firsttimebirdy, you have a full house don't you...all those dogs! I always wanted to have a pack of my own. Glad you've found a good vet though.

Whaaat? Is that standard? I could've sworn a gram stain at my vet was $109. Maybe it was something else... I sure hope so.

At my new avian vets place, this is the price

1 Physical Exam Reptiles/Birds/Fish $62
1 Husbandry Information (Exotics) $0
1 Gram Stain (In-House) $39
1 Microscope Photo $0

That's not to include the costs of any supplements or medications, however. I could see a gram stain costing $109 if that includes the physical exam (which is part of the cost of the appointment, I assume).

FirstTimeBirdie, it's great that you were able to find an avian vet!!!
