Sydney is Sick

Over the past few days, Sydney hasn't been acting herself...she's puffed up, not wanting her veggies, and is loosing weight. We had a vet appointment at 10:30am yesterday. She (the vet) said that outwardly, Sydney looks great (besides being underweight). She's running fecal and blood tests to try to figure out what's wrong. She mentioned chlamydiosis (psittacosis), and a number of other possibilities, including parasite infestation. We'll get the results around 1 this afternoon...hopefully we'll find out something helpful!

Right now, the vet said to keep her warm, offer her her favorite foods (even if they aren't healthy), and to continue weighing her daily. I hope we can figure out what's wrong with my little baby!

I am sure that when the tests get back your vet will give you what you need to make Sydney feel better. Let us know.

Thanks so much you guys! :) The vet just called me with her CBC (Complete Blood Count) results. She found that Sydney has a borderline low protien level in her blood, and her white count was normal. Something (I forget what she said) indicated that she had some sort of infection. It has been decided that Syd will go on a 10-day antibiotic trail, on Baytril, I think. Hopefully it won't be too much trouble giving her meds once a day!

Sydney's Chlamydia test results should be coming back in the next few days...I'm hoping they will come back negative!

Got a budgie here who wasn't feeling too well... he was put on Baytril from old vet. New vet, who actually did fecal, said his droppings looked fine (don't have to wait to get fecals done - they do them in the building), said to get him on pellets (no medications), some Emeraid (from LaFebers), and DMG if he'd take it. Still puffy, but certainly feeling better! Healthy appetite, and just being his goofy dork self!

I have no issue medicating conures... but anything smaller??? Hate it! The little guys usually don't like it, so they'll struggle with you!

I hope Sydney is just fine and she'll start to feeling better soon!
