His eye is closed

I don't know if you can see it in that picture, but his eye is sort of swollen shut. It was like that when I woke up, then he opened it for awhile and nowit is shut again.

I called the vet when the eye was open so I didn't mention it and I just made an appointment for a checkup, but it's not until next Wednesday. Do you think I need to pull the appointment up?

Sometimes my Neko does this when he is trying to sleep. I read that as a defense mechanism they try to keep at least one eye open for predators (not sure how true that is). Is your little one just trying to sleep? Or Im wondering if maybe he is a little stressed out from the move and being in the carrier instead of a cage?? Does he have food and water in the carrier? (Im sure he does, but Im just checking!) I am not sure if I would move up the appointment, since it IS tomorrow but definitely monitor his behavior. If he starts acting listless or seems to be constantly sleeping, I would move that appt. up. Also check to make sure he is eating and drinking. I hope its nothing serious, keep us posted!

No, the appointment isn't tomorrow, it's next Wednesday. This week the only appt they had was Thursday at 2 and I have to work at 3.

He has food and water and I have seen him eating but I don't know if he is drinking.

I tried cleaning his cage but it was a lost cause, so I cleaned Meadows old cage and am going to move her into there and then I am going to move him into Meadows cage since it's bigger. Then when I eventually get paid I am going to try and get him a new cage. I've got Meadows cage cleaned it's just drying and then I am going to move them before I leave for work.

He could be sick (wouldn't be surprising). Weigh him if you can and make sure he's eating. Keep him warm. You might consider putting electrolytes in his water.

As LSydney said, if his behavior worsens, get him to the vet sooner rather than later.

There are electrolyte products sold for birds, as well as Pedyalite, Gatorade, Powerade, and similar drinks for humans. (these would be given at 50/50 mix)

SPARK LIQUID CONCENTRATE 250mL - Vetafarm Pty Ltd
Avitech Exotic Birds - Supplies, Equipment and Nutritional Supplements for Birds!
COOL PET Holistic Remedies
Bird products
Buy Mardel Ornalyte - Bird Medications Online at Arcata Pet Supplies (be cautious of these products?)

Ok, I work at CVS and I will bring some gatorade home for him tonight.

He had his eye open again, and I looked and it is definitely swollen. Also, he got out of the carrier in my bathroom and he was flapping his wings but couldn't fly.

I think his eye looks alittle swollen. I think it would be best to try and get him to the vet ASAP. I am sure he is stressed but better safe then sorry. Especiaaly coming from the situation he came from. Please tell me you have him quarentined in another room with airvent blocked and door shut. You might want to put a light to oneside of the carrier to keep him warm but still make sure he can move away if he gets to hot.
I say VET!

He is quarantined in another room, and he is in a cage now. It is cold in here but I don't have anything to keep him warm. We don't have the heat on and we usually use a space heater to warm the bedroom but I don't want to use it since it could have teflon in it. SHould I buy a heating pad? I know we sell those at work.

Forgot to mention in my last post, there could also be something in his eye that's bothering him, so if you could, flush the eye out with some water. The not being able to fly part could be due to muscle atrophy - not being able to properly exercise, or possibly even being sick which caused the same result.

Contact the company that made the space heater and see if it contains any PTFE. Some are fine to use. Heating pads or a heating bulb also work.
