I'm not sure but personally I would avoid fake trees, as he may ingest a piece of plastic or material fairly easy. But then real trees probably wouldn't last very long around a parrot!
There are many many safe trees and plants out there, personally I give my birds any australian native branches (eucalyptus, melaleuca, bottlebrush/callistemon etc), and fruit trees such as apple trees have safe bark and wood (just be careful of pesticides.) I think willow is another safe one but you should check that.

If you have enough natural light in the room, you could try growing an Areca palm in a large pot. They usually are relatively inexpensive, and are bird safe. You do need enough light though.
