Question question about flying a bird across country

Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone knows the details on how to move with a bird from the east coast to the west coast? What airlines? restrictions? safety concerns? There is someone I know in this area who needs this information and I have no idea...any help would be so much appreciated!!

Flying with your fids

You may want to start with a search Airlines permiting pet birds for an updated list. Then consider:

What kind of bird
Are there any state restriction on your specific type of bird
How many birds
Will the bird(s) be traveling in the cabin or in baggage/cargo
If traveling in cargo, there are temperature minimums to be aware of at both departure and arrival ports
Make reservations early since there is a limit to how many pets on board
Size and Type of airline approved carrrier - If planning to travel in cabin, most have a carrier height limit of 8 inches and must fit under seat in front
May want to clip wings to avoid startled bird from flying off during secuirty checkpoint
Health certificate not more than 10 days prior to flight may be necessary
