Stolen Baby White Cap Pionus, Handfeeding--Portland OR

I have just been asked to post that a baby white capped pionus, very young (approx. 2-3 months), on 3 handfeedings a day and not eating ANY other food, was stolen today from the Bird Hut in Portland, Oregon.

This baby won't last more than a day or two without handfeeding. The thief was caught on video, and store owners will attempt to get it on the news tonight. If anyone has any information that can help lead to the bird's return, please call the Bird Hut at 503-254-3390. After 7pm or before 10 am PDT, please pm dvelardi (Deb), myself (Irish), or call the local police dept.

Please--due to the baby's age, it is urgent that it is found and returned ASAP. Thank you for any help you can give.

Thank you, Irish, for posting this for Bird Hut and myself. It is URGENT that this baby finds its way back to the store, or for the birds sake into the hands of someone that knows what they are doing! This baby is only about 10 weeks old and had not started eating ANY solid foods.

It is a shame that people have to stoop so low as to risk an innocent life. Fortunately, the whole fidnapping was caught on video and are able to get a clean picture of the lady's face as well as her accomplice's face. It will appear on the local news as will be posted at Bird Hut. Please help us get this baby back!

I believe that the store owners plan to have the incident on the news, yes. I've watched the channels since last night, and haven't seen any mention of the loss of the baby, yet. I hope they get it on soon. Deb will have more info than I do, as she works there. Hopefully she can fill us in when she finds out anything new.

As of last night, the bird has not been found or returned. Employees of the store speculate that if the bird hasn't made its way to someone who knows how to properly handfeed, it may well be dead by now :-(.

Perhaps if Deb sees this, she can update or elaborate.

I know this sounds like a foolish questions, but do all the vets like Pam, Marli, etc... know about this and/or have the legband (if there is one) info in case someone brings the bird to them?

I don't know, as I don't work at the store, but I'm guessing they'll have informed the vets and other pet stores. They did that when their handfeeding U2 baby was stolen a few months back, anyway. Not that it did any good. Apparently stolen by druggie tweeker types who probably traded her in for drugs to someone who thought a U2 would be a pretty decoration.... She was in the news, too. I don't think the baby Pi made it into the news this time, though.
