Possible volunteer in search of a rescue

Ok, hopefully the thread title says everything.

I've been suffering a case of 'want a new parrot fever' baaaad lately, but I have neither the space nor money to add a new fid to the house.

So after thinking about it, I'm leaning toward trying some volunteer work with a rescue. But that's where I'm running into another snag... I've looked through the phone book, google searched, and even had my mother ask some of the people she knows who watch wild birds and even do tours.

Nobody and nothing I've tried is leading toward a rescue near me. Dogs, cats, even horses have rescues out here. But nobody seems to know of a parrot rescue.

So help me please citizens of bird board. Does anybody know of a parrot rescue in need of volunteers in the Santa Fe, NM area? Of course I'd have to make sure that I'm a good fit, and likewise that the rescue is a good one for me. But as the only things I can give to birds right now are time and love, and since rescued birds need that more than anything... well. :)

Thanks in advance.
Jen

Another thing you might try. Call and talk to your local humane society - and animal control. They often do seizures that include birds and they usually have phone numbers of places they take them - some rescue agencies are not highly advertised because if they do they get innundated with "throw away" birds but they still always can use some help.
