Exclamation Lost cinnamon whiteface Cockatiel in Chicago,IL

Hi guys,
yesterday one of my tiels flew away. I immediately ran out, calling, whistling...nothing. I've posted around 350 posters and I'm still going to post more. I contacted at least 7 stores, 6 animal hospitals, 2 churches, schools,...
so far nothing:(.
I'm crying all day long. I'm devastated. Do you think I have any chance of finding him?
This is Twinkie's picture:

He got lost in Harlem Ave/ Forest Preserve/ Irving Park Rd on April 24,2007.
He has a leg band and loves to lend on people's heads.
We're offering a reward $200 for finding him.

My cellphone number is 773 934 1002.

Just this weekend we found a Quaker at our friend's backyard. I posted ads, took him to my vet, because he wasn't looking good...he has a bowel infection....

I just keep asking why did this happened to me?

Thank you for any help.

Katie

Your info has been posted on 911parrotalert.com

Did you put his cage outside? Put it on a big white sheet with lots of his favorite food and toys on top. He is going to get hungry. If he sees his cage he may go to it.
Make sure you knock on every neighbors door and let them know he is missing.
Go outside at dusk and early morning. That's usually when you can hear them 'call'.

Also:
- Call the police and/or sheriff - report him missing (fax your flyer if you can)
- Call/fax any zoo or wildlife centers in your area
- Call/fax Vets (whether they do birds or not)
- Call/fax Pet stores (whether they sell birds or not)
- Call/fax Bird Sanctuaries in your area
- Put the flyer in all local supermarkets that are near your home. Most have lost and found boards and will keep them up for a week (repost after 1 week). Also, put signs at all supermarket exits.
- Google your local radio stations get the phone numbers. Call in! I did that and got more then 25 calls on found birds (they weren't mine) but at least they heard about him.
- Watch local.com (birds)/put in your zip/classifieds/Pets/Birds/Sort by Newest. It lists any type of bird ad in your area. Keep your eye out for lost & found and/or cockatiels for sale. Some people that find birds would just assume sell them then to try to find their owners. Also, once in the pets section you can type "found" in the search box.
- Make SURE to physically go to your local Animal Control and shelters in your area fill out their form for lost animal. Most Shelters will only keep a tame bird for a week and put it up for adoption! :(

Good luck!

Thank you for all this great info. Yes, I put his cage outside and I walk early in the mornings...
I'm going to call all shelters...we have many here:(.
And supermarket idea is great too.
Thank you again.

Katie and the gang~ Don't forget to try Pefinder.com. People find stray animals and take them to shelters and hopefully they're posted on this site. Keeping you and Twinkie in our thoughts and prayers.

Unhappy

Laura, thank you for your concern . Twinkie is still missing. I posted ads all over the net, around 450 flyers are outside, I'm working on animal hospitals, stores, police stations and shelters...nothing yet. I'm devastated, I can't eat, sleep, I'm just a wreck. Twinkie is my baby, I'm worried to death about him.
Please, pray for his return, please.
Thank you with all my heart.
Katie

Keep us posted. For what it's worth, I am already a birder but am being extra vigilant when looking to the skies. NY and IL are a ways away from each other but one never knows!

Take good care,
Laura

Don't forget to call in to local radio stations. You would be amazed.

I did call in and got like 5 different calls. As I said above, the birds weren't mine, but at least I got his info out there.
