Unhappy Monty may not be lost!

I lost my sweet boy Monty (Jenday) Oct.1-06. Had a few sightings, they ended sometime in Nov. I had fliers everywhere, went to all the vets, adds in all the papers, never stopped looking. Yesterday I found out that a conure matching his discription was found a mile from our home, and kept, then given to our county animal shelter around July 17. (sounds too good to be true?) He was then adopted out. I called the shelter, I was told, it's too late, nothing could be done, it was all done in a legal way, and that was that. If only I had seen the add a few days earlier, things may have been different. We live in the DC-MD area. We are willing to get another parrot for these people to bond with. I had Monty since he was a 3 months old, he is my baby, and my heart is aching. Everyone should remember, GET THE WINGS CLIPPED

How frustrating and heartbreaking. I hate when they go strictly by the rules and won't bend for you. Ask them if they would please contact the person without telling you who they are, and tell the person what you are willing to do if it is truly your bird. You may have already asked that. I'll say a prayer that someone's heart is softened at the shelter.

I'll also say a prayer that someone's heart is softened at the shelter.

I am so sorry. You could place an ad in the local paper about what happened and maybe the new owners will contact you.

Went to the shelter, took lots of photos of Monty. Told them, if it was Monty I was willing to buy a young parrot for the people who had adopted him. As soon as I showed them the photos, they took me into another office. They said the bird that they had had was a sun conure, showed me a photo. He wasn't a sun, he was just like Monty, a jenday. He flew down and perched himself on the shoulder of a teacher in a preschool playground. They called the shelter and they picked him up that day, July 13, he was adopted out July 17. But he's not mine, this one has a band. Our vet took his band off, said it was too big, I had it with me. At first, they asked me if I lived in the Baltimore area, (I don't) now I'm wondering if someone called them about this bird, and they told them it was a sun conure. He/she is really a beautiful jenday, and they said he was VERY LOUD. Thank you to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers, I'll never stop looking for my boy...
