Largest Parrot Rescue in Nation

Many people don't realize that the largest parrot rescue is located in Georgia , not far from Augusta. Feathered Friends Forever now has 1207 parrots with approx. 200 of them up for adoption. Ron Johnson, the owner, will take any parrot for any reason. He is a self taught homeopathic "vet". He has a natural way with birds and a passion to permanently house unwanted, unloved parrots.
WE are redoing the website but you can find out good stuff at our myspace.

wow, 1207 parrots is a lot.... i believe the gabriel foundation here in colorado houses about 450 (and i think that's a lot too)

it's soo sad to see soo many parrots ending up in rescues - thanks for doing what you're doing...

Wow. What a place that must be. It is so great there are people who would take such a vast amount of birds.

I visited Feathered Friends Forever and Ron this past Sunday. The amount of birds are amazing. They took us on a tour and the birds are just wonderful in the flights. I saw Blue and Gold Macaws flying for the first time and it was breathtaking. I had a great time, visited with the Macaws and of course the Cockatoos. There were Amazons and Conures as well. They have some special needs birds that were great. One especially, Pepe, an Umbrella Cockatoo without feet. They put him in my hands on his back like a baby and he looked up at me with those big dark eyes and said Pepe's a pretty bird. He also sings On Top of Old Smokey.
They are having a huge fundraising/party on Memorial Day Weekend. They are building a new flight for the Cockatoos so if you're close go out there. I could have spent the whole day instead of just a few hours.

Wow I may have to go visit there this summer. Very sad that a place like that is needed though.
