Eastern NC Bird Rescue???

Does anybody know of somebody that rescues tiels in Eastern NC? My father borrowed two tiels which are in not the greatest conditions. I think they are females b/c they are really quite but I am just guessing. They are not social but the yellow one is not as aggressive as the other one. The yellow one is missing a lot of feathers. My dad says the other one beats on it so I have separeted them. I would like for my dad to talk to the man and maybe he will give them to me and I could help them out. The problem is that they need medical help but my parents are in a tight situation, they haven't been working really well, and thus I could not afford the medical bills for both birds. I am doing the best of my abilities to help them. I will be giving the yellow tiel a bath everyday with aloe (is it safe?) and have switch them to pellets (Zupreem cockatiel formula). I have taken some pictures of the yellow tiel. I think this was her first bath. He/she doesn't know how to take a bath.

How did they come to be with your parents? I guess I am not understanding? If someone else owns them and allowing them to beat up on each other thats abuse or ignorance,I am in NC and will help, but please re explain the situation??

My father is ignorant about birds and since I lost my Nimbus recently he taught that Maxy might need a companion and possibly a mate (told him time and time that that is complicated business but its hard to explaine to him why...his learning though). I asked him where he got them from and he said when he went to deliver a tent we rent for parties he meet a guy who was the owner of both tiels. The guy told my dad that he took them to the vet, gave them good food, and took them out of their cage. Well when I saw them the yellow guy had his feathers missing and they both are skinny campared to my Maxy. I asked him if one bird is abusing the other why not separted them. He said he asked the guy the same question but he didn't reply. I asked my dad when he is going to take them back and he said the guy told him to keep them as long as we wanted too. Now I don't want them to go back! I want my dad to talk to the man and see if he will give them to me. The cage is WAY to small for both of them. Its probably big enough for 1 budgie. They were kept on a diet of only seeds (well mixed with pellets which I know is not the best diet) and it looks like no fresh veggies. They act like they have never been out of the cage. Right now both are just sitting on top of their cage. The yellow one is asleep and the other one is just looking around. I told my dad to take them back (before I realize how bad they were) and I told him I would print out as much information as I could in spanish so that he could give it to the guy. Information from appropriate size of their cage to medical problems.

Are they both staying in that cage? That is too small for two birds. Try getting a larger cage, or separating them.

I know that Flying Colors is in NC.. Haw River area? They might have advice for you. Phoenix Landing also branches out to NC, you might try getting a contact thru their website.

Yes both were staying in that cage. I went to craigslist to see if anybody has a big enough cage for sale that is cheap but for some reason I don't see any. I have already separated them but its hard to believe the story the guy said b/c they have not showed a sign of aggression towards each other since they have been here, that I have seen. I will check them out and see what I can get. I will contact my vet and see if he has any help for me.

Hey, are you close to New Bern? I am sure Andrea would have a cage you could borrow. Since you are rehoming them, no sense in going out and buying a new cage.

I live near Greenville. The fids are not mine so I can't do much. I will try and get my dad to convince the guy to give them to me. I found this cage on CL maybe the person still has it. Is to small?

Better for one bird. Maybe if they are separated and the real owner gets the second cage, the situation would improve.
