Rescued Pi needs new home in Phoenix area
As I was perusing craigslist a month or so ago, I stumbled upon a white capped Pi in a very small FILTHY cage. The perch was a piece of sippery broken bamboo which had been shoved through the tiny cage. The bamboo was split down the middle. The bottom of the cage was piled thick with food and droppings. I couldnt bear to see this beautiful bird in such horrid conditions, so I bought him. He was originally advertised as a "conure." I dont want another bird, as my hands are full with my caique and gcc, who are insanely jealous of any bird that comes in the house. My friend who is watching him and quarantining him just got a new African grey baby and a special needs conure (handicapped). She was hoping to keep Max, but she feels he needs to go to a home where he can get more attention.
When I asked what his name was, I was told he had no name, so we named him Max. I was also told that he might be a male and that he is 2-3 yrs. old. He has been quarantined at my friend's house for the last 4-5 weeks. He was not tame when we got him, but she now has him playing with toys, standing on the playgym, and he has stood on her hand. He lets her scratch his head. I think he nipped her the first day or so, but did not draw blood. From what I saw and understand, he is very quiet, making the cutest littles sounds. He now says "hello" and "meow." Max still needs work, but he deserves a stable home for the rest of his life. I know it is a longshot, but I was hoping there might be a good home in Phoenix for him. I dont want to ship him, as he has been through enough already. Please contact me if anyone lives in AZ and might be interested in Max. Also, I am asking a rehoming fee ($250), which is what I paid and of this I am giving some to my friend for watching him, which means I will be taking a loss. It is well worth it though, to find him a new home. I dont think I could have lived with myself if I let him stay in the conditions that he was in. Thanks!
