hard to believe, but if it's true...

I would jump on it... if I could afford one... a too that is. he's 8 years old and free to a good home. even if he's living in a bad way and a horrible plucker and screamer, if anyone in the area could take him i mean... free...

8 yr old Cockatoo

Hmm, I'm very tempted to check it out, I know my wife will kill me if I keep adding Fids though, (even though she loves them as much as I do.)

but you could even maybe just take him to foster him? i just feel like people offering him for free on criagslist might be a bit shady and then you dont know what happens to him... i would take him if my parents didnt own the house i live in lol

Please be carefull this bird could be stolen

Hi I would be very leery of anyone offering a too on cl for free . that would be a red flag to me cause it could be stolen and they are trying to unload it before they get caught with it . If you did take it I would have it at the vets pronto or on the other hand the bird is sick with something and they are trying to unload it because of that . Either way I would take it to the vet but still be leery of it . Insist that the vet check it for a microchip . I cannot stress this enough I have had birds stolen and it would be wonderfull if I could find them or have one of them back . it has been 11 yrs and I still hope I get that call everyday . Please if you found out it is stolen then please return hm or her . thanks .

I agree with Phonelady61 My birds were also stolen 7/4 will be 4 years. They were offloaded so fast and the person got away with it.If something sounds too good to be true the RED FLAG should go up.If it is legit then this person will have no problem providing some kind of documents to prove it's not a stolen or sick bird.

which is kind of my point though. If they arent charging for the bird (which honestly if i stole the bird I would charge an arm and a leg otherwise why would I steal it?) then it is a possibility that they arent very responsible for the bird in which case even if it's just short term to have it vet checked and foster until it can find a good home someone who knows more about them should take the bird.

Well from my understanding from the police ppl who steal birds usually dump them as quick as possible they dont take the time to sell them . that is why i made the comment in the first place . How do you know that a person with more exp is going to take this bird . whoever takes this bird is going to either sell it and in that case that poor bird is going to be bounced around . I take it heather that you are rather young since you still live in your parents home and nothing wrong with that it is just that some of us with more life exp know better thanks .

im sorry, i actually laughed at your post.
im not on this board often but i assumed anyone who posted on it knew and cared a bit about birds which is what i mean but putting the link on here. like if someone who knows and cares could even foster him and take him to the vet and check if he was micropchipped as opposed to someone who randomly found him on craigslist going oh a bird who talks cool that would look great in the formal living room.

dont start pulling the 'I'm old and therefore knowledgable card' on me. I'm living with my parents because I recently graduated University with my BS in Child Psychology, im not as dumb as I sound.

I don't think it's a matter of us not caring about the bird or birds that are mentioned.I think you are missing the whole point.CL and many other sites are known for passing off birds for minimal fees or free.A lot of times the birds are either stolen or sick and some are SCAMS.When are people
going to learn?Just because it says free do you run and get it?And I don't think any one is pulling the knowledge card on you. There is a such thing as common since somethimes many of us don't seem to use when they hear the word free.If anyone wants to go for this bird so be it take your chances.
