rehoming my baby before my deployment
Hi-
I'm the mommy to a wonderful grumpy little green cheek, and writing this is far worse than the idea of deployed. I'm in the Navy reserve and I'm being deployed. I have an adorable green cheek named Sunny. Truthfully I never wanted a bird, and before him I never knew how amazing they could be. When I met Sunny he was a grumpy loud biting bird in a small cage in a place I worked. I knew from the first day there way more to him than I could see. When i finally figured out what kind he was I spent hours researching. I wasn't planning on ever taking him home, just making his life better. During one of my two week ATs he was very neglected. Who wants to put their hand in the cage of a bird that will attack you to feed and water it they said. In a fit odf rage I yelled at my boss to either do something or I would take him. To shock, she said take him. I've had him for 2 years now. I've never really had the true time he deserves but selfishly I couldn't part with him. His first owners didn't like him, and then my job ignored him. He used to live in a small cage with one perch and no toys. I know I'm the only person whos has ever cared for him. He isn't an angel, he still bites a lot when in his cage, and loves to screams. Although he is a 1000 times better than when I got him. I'm doing the best I can, but I know it isn't enough. I've been half heartedly looking for the right home for him, but it has to be right. I want it to be his last. He deserves that. So if anyone who read this knows someone who truly wants and would love Sunny, please contact me. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get him to the right home including travelling. I live in Tampa, Florida. The idea of going over seas without securing his future is the scariest part of this to me. Does that sound crazy? |

Yeah there is a lady who breeds birds down there who is really nice. She also does hospice work and does board for special occasions. I can locate her info if you really want and maybe she can board your little baby for you... should you have to go. I will keep my fingers crossed that you will not have to go. I dont want you to have to give up your wonderful grumpy little green cheek... you two have a history. It is very sweet of you to think of your baby ahead of time though. Nothing crazy about it at all. Very kind though.

thank you I would love her information. It would be wonderful for him to have a good place to go while I'm gone. You have to love birds to watch them. I just don't know anyone, and I often worry I don't have tas much time for him as he deserves. I guess getting called up has made me really admit that to myself. He has such a wonderful spirit I want him to get everything he deserves. I'm definitely willing to look inot any option because right now I dont have any. Thank you all for you help! Jenna

Thank you, I have talked to Keri and you are right she seems sooooo wonderful. Its so nice to know that if I can't find a place for him before I go she can. Its taken a huge weight of my shoulders.
As requested a few pictures of my little dude ![]() ![]() I'm sorry they are so huge, I couldn't get my computer and photobucket to agree about resizing them. If you are interested please contact me via email navydoc24@gmail.com |
