That's interesting that she's making people sign a contract to return Sigh is they can't keep her... that's a neat idea....... never heard of it before.

The bird looks realy sweet, I hope it gets a great home

That's a really hard contract to enforce. Aside from the fact that people can just move and not give forwarding info, there is little that can be done in court with these types of agreements. Basically, you can't sell or give away an item or animal, and still retain rights to it. It's either yours or not yours.

I've heard of people wording the contracts as if it was a lease arrangement. That way the bird is still the property of the original owner, but even then you must spell out all the possible terms and conditions to the smallest detail.

But I agree that it's great that she is taking all steps possible to ensure the best home for Sigh. And I'm sure her heart is breaking over having to do this. I was sorely tempted to contact her, but I need another cockatoo like I need a hole in my head!

I just sent her an email. I told her that I could try to help her out and would love to see her get the bird back down the road. I don't know when (if) I'm going back to work... not soon...re: my leg. plus I live in an apartment and how would my Grey feel about another bird coming in?

I was having the time of my life tonight with HIccup...he was funny, different, playing with me unlike ever before. Maybe he could see that I just needed some comic relief and gave it to me. My sister had total knee replacement and was sent home from the hospital yesterday. I thought she was going to rehab for a couple of days...NOT! So I helped her out of the hospital, as the husband was 'inept' at the deed.. Anyways, I was the one that ended up helping her the most and he is not a helpful person... relunctant to do anything to assist his wife, including what she asks of him ... the pickup of the drugs is #1!!!!!!!! I was exhausted by the time I got home last night and today I couldn't get myself together for hours. I'm on Percocet and Vicodin at the same time, every 3-4 hours. My back was killing me this morning and I couldn't get up to save my life, or anyone else's. Finally I made it to her house just before P.T. got there. I told him "it's the dead helping the crippled". When I was at Sue's house, the PT Scott said that things need to be moved for safety reasons and she agreed. I moved what I could, but I told Sue that she has to make the hubby a responsible adult at times and hold him accountable. No coming home and getting on the computer to relax. Things need to be done and I can't do it... I tried, but it's not my house and I have limitations. MEN!!!! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! I don't have one, don't want one AND my neighbor who offered to help me out? A man of course. His idea of helping me was to be "frisky" with me.... NOT. Look I'll leave the trash by the door, you can help me out that way.....

Geez, I guess I needed to vent!

LOL! Sounds like a terrible day - you DID need to vent! So I'm guessing that you think birds are better than men?

I keep telling myself, "I DON'T NEED ANOTHER BIRD!!!!!" but this bird is sticking in my mind. Sure hope it finds a great home - looks like it's a sweetie. Hate to think of it starting a downward spiral of new homes, and crappy owners.

I haven't heard back from her, but I'm sure with that kind of ad she's had a lot of responses. I only wish the best for her bird and herself. Knowing myself at this time, I would be devasted to have to rehome Hiccup. He's the best thing that I have in my life.

I don't dislike men,,,, in fact i LOVE THEM very much and have had some good ones. I have seen all my sisters (3) been twice baked and even my Mom was. I'm very independant and the other one can just go back to his own house!

In my email this morning, I received this message from Sigh's owner:

I've read your email and appreciate your interest. You sound like a perfect home for Sigh. Unfortunately, there were a couple of homes ahead of you and this morning I visited one of them and placed Sigh with them. With your permission I will keep your email and phone number and contact you should this home not work out for Sigh. Thanks for your kind email and good luck in your search to find your Too.

I hope this works out for her and Sigh. I just can't imagine going through this, again.

That's a positive sign for Sigh -- she's prepared to continue doing whatever is necessary to make sure he ends up in a good home. Got my fingers crossed for the new owners working out for Sigh....
