Yes, it's a scam. The second poster is correct that birds don't need to be "up to date on their shots" and there isn't really any place to register them, afaik. Most telling, however, is that the photo of the macaw is definitely not a Greenwing.

Here's what a GW looks like: greenwing macaw - Google Images

I agree that its obviously a scam, but one thing made me laugh about the persons "warning." "I know these things for a fact, I own an Umbrella Cockatoo" just because you own some type of parrot doesn't mean you know everything (even though he/she was correct about what she said.) it still just made me laugh a little bit.

Actually they said that there was no registry because birds can not be cross bred, but that isn't true...there are a bunch of macaw hybrids.

Birds do not get shots of any kind EVER, they are also not EVER registered like dogs are registered to any association because there can not be mixed breed birds. The green wing macaw ad must be a scam, do not reply! I know these things for a fact, I own an Umbrella Cockatoo.
Actually, birds *DO* get shots... aka vaccines. There are vaccinations for Polyomavirus, Pacheco's Disease, and PBFD... Maybe even pox... truth be told though, there may be argument over the effectiveness of such vaccinations...
Vaccine Protocol

As for "mix breeding" --- well in short, the person is correct. Technically speaking, there are no "breeds" of parrots, only *species.* BIG difference! That aside though, yes it's possible to hybridize....

Gotta love how she knows her facts!!!! ^_^

The first thing to watch out for is if someone is in Nigeria, or some other far off place, and they want to send you a money order. You never want to give anyone on CL any money (even paypal) until you see the item (I say item because scammers scam using other categories besides pets too). Look for very broken english, the scammers will often copy and paste other scammers ads word for word without checking any spelling or grammar. You can also ask for a new photo of the item with a sign saying something, you can have the sign say whatever you want, like SerBonz 8/15/2009. Then you know he has the item if he provides a new pic with a custom sign (Some are very craft with photoshop, but I won't get into that since most scammers back off when you ask a lot of questions).
