red belly parrot needs home

I live in the greater Portland OR area, I have a 9 month old red male bellied parrot who needs a home with other parrots or a human who is consistently home (does not travel). Zeek has issues of over-bonding to me and I have to travel 3 days a week.

Zeek has a large day cage, a sleep cage and a travel cage; he also has an abundance of stuff (toys, perches, boings). He is an easy feeders (eats anything), speaks some words and phrases and whistles. I can handle him and hes able and comfortable being gently restrained. He enjoys destroying pens and computer cables , and preening on your knee before bed.

Hes really very sweet and for the right person he will be an ideal pet. I am broken hearted to say I am not the right person.

Please PM me for more information.

RushDoggie,

I have a red bellied parrot that I just love so I can relate to your heart break over needing to rehome your parrot. I live in Oregon myself (the other side). We didn't even know about these parrots until we saw our Robin at a pet store in Idaho. Now I wouldn't know what to do without my clown being around!

Just wanted you to know that I feel for your need to rehome Zeek. Good luck in finding him a new home.

Rushdoggie I was following your thread on the other site and I'm so sorry you were unable to work it out with Zeek. I have a red-bellied girl, Penny and a Senegal boy, Jack, and would be SO interested in Zeek if I lived closer. He truly sounds like a wonderful little guy. I wish you the best.

Thank you both for your kind comments...I have really let poor Zeek down and while its killing me to place him I know that the situation here isn't healthy for me or him or DH.

Traci, if all else fails I will be flying East in November (Newark), if you truly are interested I could bring him that far and meet you...

My only worry is the fact that he is handled so little right now I feel like its in Zeek's best interest to find a new home now, but if the best home for him isn't ready now I'm not going to place him in the wrong place, that would be worse, I think)
