Post Rehoming Sun Conure, in Cali

I have been looking for a good forum to get help from. I am so glad I found this one! It seems the most active of all the forums I was checking out. :)
Anyway, Hello!
I am in a huge pickle.
I have a 13 year old son conure named Coco who I love and adore.
I hand raised him from a baby, he was a Christmas gift when I was 9, but I have recently graduated college and will have to go to grad school out of state.

No one in my family is willing to watch him for me. Other then my father, and while Coco loves my Father as much as me, my father has a cat, and Coco tries to kill the cat and becomes upset at its presence.
My father doesnt want Coco in his apartment anymore.

I no longer can care for Coco.
I just don't know where to go or who to contact on how to get a new home for Coco.
So if you are interested in him (never sex tested could be a girl) or know a place that would help me rehome you can email me at jupiterdbz@aol.com

I am in California, LA county, don't mind going into orange county or riverside for that matter ;).

If you are interested in Coco here is some information.

1.His wings are not clipped, he went from a hatchling to flight. And only has ever had his wings clipped once. He became very depressed and refused to come out of his cage.

2.He eats standard stuff, pellets (zupreem) , fresh fruit, dried fruit and seed as a treat.

3.He hates and will dive attack
*cats
*children
*dogs
*my brother, my boyfriend, my step mother (but unless they visit your home you shoulder be ok )

4. He has 3 cages, he likes to fly around the house back and further from. I don't know if I will give all 3 to go with him but certainly he will go with his big cage, which is 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide. which comes with a top playset and a rolling stand.

5. He is NOT a big cuddler and will fly to you if he wants to be touched or given attention.

6. He loves me and my father. So I know he can love more then one person. And both genders.

7. Needs a sleep cage or will squawk your head off.

My I don't sell him very well do I? But I think it is important to be honest about him so you know what you are getting into. Though everyone here seems to have tons of experience, so you guys must already know what work parrots are

If you want more info you have my email. I am so worried about this. I just want him to go to a home that will love him like I do. If it was possible to take him with me I would.

Thank you for reading

I have lots of pics of course!

these were taken a few months ago when I first tried to get Coco settled at my dads. And that is the big cage that will be going with Coco no matter what :)

Thank you :)
I have gotten a few that are interested so far.

The problem is most want to add Coco to their flock, which I think would be great! But Coco has never reacted well to other birds, so I can't promise anyone that coco will take to it very fast if ever.

Most bird people know that any new bird they adopt wont be guarantied to like any of the birds they already have. They should expect them *not* to, so they're prepared, IMO. I hope you find a great home for this little guy.

I think being very honest about both the good and the bad of your bird is the best way. Even though your bird hasn't reacted well to other animals, keep in mind that 'the best' home may have other birds...which is good because then you know they also have 'bird experience'! Good luck, I hope someone will give your baby a good home!

Thank you everyone for your comments :)

And no! I would never turn someone away for having other birds.
It would be rather silly of me to want someone to have lots of bird experience yet for some reason they have no other birds at the moment :D .

Thanks Pi! You are probably a great owner too.
He just likes to attack cats is all, they scare and annoy him. Dogs are so scary to Coco they make him literally faint. Nothing scared me more then when my friend brought her dog over and Coco fell right off his perch in a faint O_O I about threw her dog right out the door *hides face*

I will post when I have found Coco a home so later on whoever sees this thread isnt wondering if they should contact me or not ^.^

Sorry you have to find a new home for Coco, Birdie Brain. It sounds like you're doing the responsible thing trying to find a good home for him.

If you end up running out of time and can't find a good home for him through BirdBoard, you might also want to look at local parrot organizations that can foster him and screen potential new homes. This option may be preferrable to having to list Coco last minute on Craig's List, or sites like that, where you might not be comfortable with the responses you'll get.

Here's one in Southern California: Parrot Education & Adoption Center Home Page

Good luck, and please do let us know how things go.
