Caique in Denver, CO

We've had our Caique for about 4 years since Summer 2006, he hatched in December 2005. He's a great little bird with tons of personality as all Caique's do. Also like all Caiques, he requires a lot of attention which as our lives have grown ever more complicated we can't seem to give him enough of.

Basically we now run 3 different businesses from home taking up most of the hours in our day. You'd think being at home would allow us more time to be with him, but unfortunately it's made things worse. He knows we're home but we're simply overwhelmed with work to have time for him. We can't keep him in our office because he screams for personal attention (head rubs, playing, etc) which we can't give while working.

To boot, we (unexpectedly) found out we're going to be having a human addition in the near future. Since becoming pregnant, our Caique no longer lets my wife get him in and out of his cage - she has been bit several times now. Unfortunately my wife was the one that had the most time to spend with him but now it's almost all on me to give him the love and attention he needs (which I love doing, I simply have even less time than my wife does). This has unfortunately caused a lot of stress in our house and to be honest my primary concern is my wife and our future child - an already stressed household will become even more so when the baby arrives. We just didn't expect things to get so overwhelming or our lives to be so strained when it came time for us to have kids.

He is a great little bird, loves head rubs, climbing down and playing in your shirt, knows a few simple words like "baby". He's been on a fresh fruit/veggie & Zupreem/Harrison's diet his whole life. We have a decent sized cage in the "bird room" and a secondary, smaller cage in our living room.

We've seen him perched on top of a cage with a small cockatoo once when we picked him up from boarding one time - so I imagine he would do well being in a situation with other birds. He shows interest in trying to preen our Greenwing, but of course the GW doesn't want anything to do with him.

Couple additional notes:

Ozzi is a DNA sexed male and a White Bellied Caique.
