Scam!

I responded to this ad for a free GCC. I'm not looking for another bird, but hey, it was free the owner might be desperate to rehome it quickly and I would take it and rehome it myself. I also thought maybe this is a scam. Here's the reply I got back from the person:

Thanks for your interest in my bird.Her name is mis Cindy. The bird is still very much available. She is between 9 – 10 inches long ,she weighs about 108grams,home trained and very friendly with children.she is adorable and sociable with great Personalities.She has learn to answer the microwave timer, telephone ringer, voices as well as songs on the television or radio,she Avain-Vect-checked.All the papers will accompany the bird,But right now i am in Africa on a Orphanage mission with my Family and we have the Mis Cindy right here with us.we are going to get her on delivery on next day delivery after shipment through a shipping agent,so if you are interested in having my bird,i want you to get back to me with your full name,address including the nearest airport to you.Please if you know that you are not going to take very good care of my bird, do not reply me because i am giving her on because of bad condition or anything i am only giving this bird out because we don't have time to take care her again due to the mission work before us here. she will be going for free so i will like you to get back to me with your full name and full address including your nearest airport and your contact phone number so that i can carry out shipping.The lovely bird will come along with all her necessary paper work like......

I hate those scams, mostly because they are a waste of the responder's time. My sister (18 years old) actually fell for one of those scams for an English Bulldog puppy. She lost 400$ (the man told her that was the shipping costs for Africa).

I could not believe it when she told me she actually fell for it. She called me and asked if I thought it was a scam, but had already send the money order.

That's alright, she simply donated to the starving kids in Africa's fund.

*I would call it something else, but the esteemed, honorable people that took your sister's money might sue for libel.

I chewed my sister out! I could not believe that she did not call me first, I mean I help run 2 rescues, am a vet tech....she said she was afraid someone else would get them before her since it was such a good deal....from Nigeria.

She does not appreciate me sharing the story at family functions! It is my arsenal if she evers says I did something stupid, "Remember your Nigerian English Bulldog puppy?".

Oohhhh BOO that is such a scam!!! I hate those. Whats even worse is that people really send the money! Its really too bad. My bf gets those kind of emails (more so saying he inherited a large sum of money) in his email all the time. I never get them, lucky me!!

That's what gets us every time..."a good deal".

Note to self: If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.

I was kinda hoping it was not a scam, but I knew it probably was. :( What my daughter posted above was the link to the same exact photo that the scammer was using, but the link above looks like a legit bird sale. All she did was google images of pinapple GCC and loh and behold there was the same photo!
