While I agree some rescues are good, others only want "merchandise" to "SELL" for an adoption fee.

I would (as you have said) try very hard on my own to find a suitable home. Don't be afraid to ask about their bird experience, how much time they can devote, where they will place the birds cages in their home etc. You are giving them a gift and I would make sure they know what they are doing.

Good Luck they are adorable and I hope you find a great home for them!

I'm very excited. As of today, it looks like the 'tiels will be re-homed and given a secure, safe, loving environment. We just need to arrange logistics/meeting up. I won't give details out of respect to the adopter but if they'd like to acknowledge that they'll be taking the 'tiels, they may do so.

Young, I see your email and will respond to it shortly. Thanks so much!

We're still looking for a home for Sunny.

Thank you to everyone for your encouragement and support.

Thank you, Prettypenguin! It just so happens we did find a wonderful home for Sunny. The person who is adopting our cockatiels has friends who bird sit for her. These friends have African Greys and have decided to give Sunny a home.

We are meeting at a point today to hand off all three birds to the cockatiels' adopter, who will then transport Sunny to his new home.

Today is a bittersweet one for my husband, son and me but we know we're doing the right thing. If I had this to do all over, we wouldn't have gotten the birds simply because we would've put more thought into their adoption.

When you think you've thought everything through, think some more and then some more. Make lists and create scenarios- the worst case ones- in your mind so you know if you're the right person for a bird.

The only consolation I have is knowing they're going to better homes than the one we've provided for them and their happiness is paramount to anything our selfish human hearts desire.

Words cannot express the debt of gratitude I feel for our birds' new owners.
