Green Cheek Conures in Eugene, Oregon

I bought a breeding pair of fancy green cheek conures (GCCs). They are everything I was hoping for, but now I need to find them a new home. Reason? I lost my job and I am having trouble affording their care. I already have a dog and I feel like I can’t take care of him and the birds. I am a full-time college student and it has been difficult for me to find a company that will hire me with my limited availability. I have been applying for jobs all over my town, but I have yet to be placed. I need every dollar I have saved (and then some) to pay for school this fall (Sept. 29th).

About the birds: Kiara is a 4-year-old cinnamon GCC. She is healthy and in perfect feather. She is shy with strangers, but friendly once she gets to know you. She loves toys and games. Her favorite game is to hang upside down and “dance." Kovu is a yellowsided proven double split from Outback Aviary in CA. He is four years old as well and is definitely the man of the house.

They were both handfed as babies, but are now more bonded to each other than to people. Let me repeat that: this is a bonded pair. I want them to go to a new home together. They have a huge white cage made by Quality Cage of Portland. It is powder coated white with 1/2 inch bar spacing and is approximately 2ft x 3ft x 3ftft. It comes with a matching stand on casters.

I paid $550 for them. I am not looking to get all of this money back; however I do need to charge an adoption fee for two reasons. 1) I believe that an adoption fee will prove to me that the new family knows the value of these birds and are committed to the responsibility of them. 2) I need money for school. I am asking $400 for the pair. They will come with their cage, toys, breeding box, feed dishes, and food (they eat seed mix, pelleted food, and fresh fruits and veggies). The cage alone costs $375 new. Fancy (mutation color) GCCs cost upwards of $250 each from a breeder. A proven breeding pair (which this is) would cost even more for each bird. In other words, this is a very reasonable fee and an excellent deal for someone that has been wanting to have GCCs.

I am also willing to do a partial trade. I can use puppy food and Frontline Plus.
