B&G Macaw (near Cleveland, Ohio)
I have a pet blue and gold macaw that I'd like to rehome to a macaw-experienced home. He's my first large macaw, and I don't have the guts or the time to handle him. I bought him 2-3 months ago for myself, but then was given an Eclectus parrot as a gift shortly after. The Eclectus is a very needy bird (wants to be with me ALL the time, and screams horribly if he isn't able to), which has resulted in the macaw not getting any time/attention. The macaw let me pet his head while he was perched on his previous owner's arm. With his previous owner not around, he hasn't let me do that. He does the macaw lunge, which makes me stay away. He seems more interested in men and would probably be happier with a male owner. Other than the bullying, he is an awesome bird. He's in perfect feather, doesn't pluck. He rarely screams, but does talk in a clear voice. He's never been caged, and thus isn't used to cages or carriers. He stays on a play stand or tree, and doesn't leave it; since he never leaves it, he doesn't wander off and chew things around the house. He's no trouble for me, but I feel he would be happier in a home where he is spent time with and is handled like he was in his previous home. He seems to want to interact. He can say a few things, mimic other cute/funny noises, and do a dance-type of thing for treats. He's only 2 years old. I'm asking $650 for him. That is very fair, not negotiable, he needs a stable home. I cannot ship him since I couldn't get him into a carrier, and I cannot drive to meet or deliver since I don't drive. He'll need to be picked up at my home, which is near Cleveland, Ohio. I'm hoping to find a decent new owner for him, and will keep looking until I have found one.
This is my first time on the board, I will try to attach a couple of his pics to the post but if it doesn't work just contact me and I'll send them to you.
Thanks for reading.
