Just learned this person that is adopting birds out was a person of topic on CL. She had PDD exposure to her bird store. I know that she closed for a while and cleaned up. But she is relocating these birds to her store. Also she is making a profit at $300 per bird. She is not a registered rescue. Disappointing. So many birds that need new homes.

So shes closing her store due to the PDD exposure? Does this mean that some of these birds could be very sick??

No, she closed and disenfected and reopened. The rescued birds just arrived at her place the other day. They are from an aviary where the owner passed away and asked for her help in rehoming.

(Assuming she already had some birds there) Did she get any kind of paperwork from a Vet stating that those birds had been tested clean before she brought in others?

Not that I care, just curious how she is providing assurance to potential customers that her birds and any that come in haven't been exposed, or if exposed have been tested negative.

Where are you getting this information from? The owner? When did this happen, the closing and re-opening? I am curious because I purchased a bird from this place last month. Please let me know I am freaking out alittle here. Thanks.

All the stink started about 2 months ago, I believe. I would have your bird tested by collecting stools for 2 weeks and freezing. Then send to Dr. Tizzard or Brandon Ritchie. Your vet should know where to send off to. Yeah there was a pretty big stink. Everyone was warning people not to go in her store or purchase from her. She was honest and did say there was a positve PDD in a HY baby.

The real issue here is that she was asked to rehome these birds in the first place. They should have had sanctuary for the rest of their lives in the facility they lived in. The founder loved them and wanted to protect them and would have never, never, never wanted them to be back in the pet world from which many of them had come in bad condition.

The facility did not close - they are still in operation. They just do not want any parrots. That is the issue. It is a lesson to us all to leave financial backing tied to the care of our birds lest something like this happen to our beloved birds.
